It is so sad that this was all destroyed by some idiot with a box of matches. Not only is it a piece of history, but I know of many small community theater companies desperate for performance or rehersal space.

I agree with you. Some mentally disabled or autistic people have a fascination with numbers or sequences of numbers.
And I think I also read somewhere that the late, great John Lennon was also obsessed with the number 9.

Mr. Motts,
I must say that I love the way in such a huge building with so much to see, you also manage to capture the smallest things, and make them into a fantastic shot. This one really speaks to me.

It's so sad to see what was once a beautiful instrument, and probably brought joy to many just rotting away like that. Actually, it's a shame to see the WHOLE building rotting away.

I wonder if they painted the picture on the wall so that the patients couldn't pull it down and hurt themselves (or others) with the hardware. Does anyone know? Lynne?

Wow... this is an AMAZING picture Mr. Motts!! It took my breath away!

The back-lighting really works! It gives this beautiful old building a Halo! It's so sad that a gorgeous, generally sound building had to be demolished, just so they can build cheap wooden framed townhouses or even worse... a Wal Mart! Ugh.

I agree with Gully Foyle... looks like something they may have used to wrap the patient in and transfer them from gurney to bed and vise versa??

Hey Mr. Motts! I am a beginner photography nerd, and I have to ask a technical question on this and the next couple of photos in this series...
Why are these images a little grainy? Did you use a special filter, or was the light just so low that they came out that way??
