I would guess fresh air treatments, where beds could be rolled out of the main building easily, but I'm not certain.

Unfortunately I don't recall checking out the elevator...

I believe this was in the area as shown in the next and previous photos, where there were those tall doors and empty rooms. If the coils had copper or other precious metal, they would probably have been sold or scrapped.

Thanks - yes it's getting more and more expensive to travel; however it's become quite important for me to travel far away from home every so often.

I have visited many places more than once; often there are buildings or scenes that I didn't see the first time around, or, the place has new aura in a different season or weather.

Yup definitely large enough for a vehicle to drive through - not sure what era that portion of the building was constructed though.

I don't think so, I think some of these "lab" rooms were clustered together in a relatively unfinished part of the basement. I recall being in this room, parts of the giant precision scale were still there. Wish I snapped some photos of it...

Ah, yes - Red Dragon was the movie that was filmed here which I was thinking of. Thanks!

Can't remember - if prices were on there they were probably in marks, and so I really wouldn't know the equivalent exchange rate :-)

Luckily it was far enough away not to be terrifying, just startling. I actually never figured out which floor gave way - the place can be pretty maze-like and floors collapse every so often, changing the lay of the land.

Thanks - no I haven't really felt anything definitive (yet). After being in well over 100 abandoned institutions, I don't think it will happen at all...

"its people that break and enter that make abandomed buildings be torn down"

Not sure how you came to this conclusion. From what I've seen over the years, these buildings are demolished due to availability of funds, transfer of property, politics, or arson (as opposed to taking photos).

Norwich was always pretty wide open, no breaking necessary.

I haven't been back to Henryton; I think I enjoyed the odd duotone colors painted throughout the buildings the most, but as you say it's probably all behind spray paint these days. Thanks!
