Basements really scares me, and this doesn't help

I have to agree with silkster40z. It feels like the rest of the building is underneath, in the ground. Or that it is the top floor of a building that has been removed and put somewhere else.

I've noticed that you can find bowling alleys, or at least one or two lanes, in the strangest places...
