Motts: I assume the perspective here was level and the track reall is at an angle up? Likely to allow the door to self-close.

Amber

Wonder how dark that place was in the evenings even when operational? The lights up on the ceiling couldn't have put out enough light for the space. Haven't really noticed a lot of lights anywhere in the other pics either. I suppose if you were making rounds you had a flashlight.

Danger Area

Mike

Those are huge in comparison to the footprint of the available floorspace underneath. No idea what those used to do or connect to.

Mezzanine View

Be careful around those heavy front curtains in a theatre. Back in the day some of those contained a lot of asbestos to help keep a backstage fire from sweeping through the auditorium. Not sure when that stopped in relation to the age of some of these locations, but just one more problem area to be aware of...

Looks like it is still loaded with soap in the control unit. Who's next?

Echo

Amazing the difference in decay between some of the areas. Sections with an intact roof are almost still perfect.

Cordoned Off

Mike

Makes me wonder what the cut-out towards the top right side was for. Seems low for conduit that has since been removed. Interesting. Probably zombie related according to the other posts!

Toe fog and the bars on all the windows really sets the mood on this one!

The reading is in DC, not AC. I wonder what the circuit powered?

Adult Cribs

Mike

This doesn't look to me to be some kind of bed-lockup. It looks more like two twin sized beds shoved together with the middle "crib" walls removed to make a queen size. Notice the larger size mattresses on top. This looks more like what you'd do for a very large patient, or more likely, a patient who rolled around a lot at night and was prone to falling out of bed and injuring themselves.

Dank is a fitting word for this shot. Love the calcium buildup where the water is leaking.

Intersection

Mike

Any idea what the huge baseboards were for? Only thing I can think of was to keep rolling beds from hitting the wall, but that seems like overkill..

On the fire doors, usually those are installed when you have to cut through a fire wall in a building. A fire wall would usually run the full width of the building, but based on the room to the left this wall doesn't . All the fire has to do is get into that room and it can bypass the fire door.

You are right that it looks like marble walls back there. I was looking at the desk and didn't even notice that those were showers in the background. Thanks

Isolation

Mike

It's just a weight they tie patients too. When you fill the real isolation rooms you need a way to keep patients away from others! Just kidding, don't kill me Lynne!

Yellow Leaves

I love the rust that has rained down onto the floor. Nice that there is enough wind to bring in the leaves, but not disturb what is falling.

Is that a hole in the floor or just a strange shadow between the desk and the dryer?
