Stairwell

Mary McWilliams

Long walks down a hall that ate away the life of a man of hopeless choices.
Each step kept him upright when falling seemed the better choice.
Putrid clothing hung from a form that still felt empty after meals of institutional blandness.
If only he had a visitor to keep his spirits up. To keep him upright for a little longer as he walked down that lonely hall to the social madness
of his empty encampment.
