How in the world did you find a location in Baltimore that was free of graffiti and vandalism (as far as I can see?) Most of that city is covered in it. (I'm originally from the Baltimore area). It must have taken a lot of "creativity" to get in that place. I sure do appreciate your efforts. (-:

How did you find a building in Baltimore that was (as far as I could tell) free of graffiti? That city is covered with graffiti and vandalism!

The lack of graffiti and the abdunace of metal still around is amazing.

Welcome back! You were sorely missed, and many of us were concerned. Warm thoughts and well wishes are being sent your way.

Let's all go to the lobby! Let's all go to the lobby! Let's all go to the lobby, and have ourselves a snack! (Sorry, I know these are old threads. I'm just reviewing some old stuff and can't get that movie theater song out of my head now.)

I used to live about 15 minutes from there and we went often for the free chocolate factory tour. Unfortunately I'm not as close any more. )-:

Blocked

The German architecture was most likely of a higher quality than the later Soviet Russian work, and I would wager that the exit was blocked during the Soviet occupation. Just a guess...

Looks like my middle school gymnasium. I always wondered why they put the windows in, only to paint them black later.

Looks like the perfect place to show Soviet propaganda films...

Is this Hansel and Gretel's cottage, or the home of the witch? (-: Very fairy-tale-like.

It would be interesting to see what the colors were like when this place was operated by the Germans. Maybe the black at that time created a lovely "pop" against the decor. They certainly didn't seem to skimp on beauty as far as the architecture. I'm sure it all fit together somehow.

Has anyone on here ever looked at recent pictures from Pripyat (site of the Chernobyl disaster)? Fascinating. I would love to see what Motts could create artistically with that place. Planned any trips to Russia, Motts? (-:

I can see "1945" on the top part, "1968" on the bottom. Looks to be more cold war related, but it would be interesting to know what it says.

It looks like the boxes were neatly stacked and then they got wet and toppled over. If they're wet how likely are they to burn?

Vanessa, I've been thinking the same thing...Grandma's house! The doors, doorknobs, windows, woodwork, etc.

MamatoFive: Do you think the doors were very tall, in which case the doorknobs would be in the right place?

The little door looks like a pass-through door. I have seen them in doctors offices for specimen collection and in churches for offering collection.

This looks a lot like recent pictures from Chernobyl. A lot of Mott's photos do to me, but these daycare pictures especially. Visitors to this site would probably also enjoy some of those pictures. There are lots of galleries to be found and some of them are really mesmerizing.
