I love the tile details. Thanks to this gallery, people will be able to see and appreciate the old world craftsmanship that went into this treasure.

Tub View

Larry D

Nice details in the door jams. What are the two square openings in the floor by the sink?

Mixer

Looks a little Rube Goldberg-ish.

Tub Room

Larry D

I bet that tile floor was cold on bare feet. Love those narrow double doors.

Stalls

Larry D

Motts, were you standing on a ladder to get this angle? Awesome shot.

I agree Toot. That floor could easily be brought back to life.

Scrub

Larry D

What a jaw-dropping view! Wow! Looking at the scrub & overgrowth around the wall it's evident that this wasn't an easy place to get to.

Must have been a cold, drafty place in the winter.

Shadow Box

I'm intrigued by the round knob on the wall in the corner with an outline of something. I wonder what was there.

Beautiful old world craftsmanship. I bet those floors would shine like new if mopped.

Day Room

Beautiful architectural details. Even in this state, the grandeur is evident. I wonder what these walls witnessed over the decades.

Building on the Hill

Larry D

Awesome to see a new gallery. It's obvious you've invested a lot of time & sweat in bringing these works of art to us to enjoy. I feel a little guilty for sinking into a comfy chair with a Monster Energy Drink and a can of Pringles to absorb every detail of these magnificent photos. But I'll get over it. Now on with the gallery. =8-)

An incredible shot. I miss Mr. Motts posts so much. Tom, I hope and pray that you are OK. Why you suddenly walked away from Opacity is not important. We just wish you well. God bless.

That's a gravity fed embalming rack. Old school. No electricity needed.

Looks fresh too.

Pentagon

Larry D

Incredible how ceramic tile walls retain a brilliant shine in these places. Last month I watched a documentary on the wreck of the Titanic and for the first time a submersible found it's way into the Turkish Bath deep in the bowels of the ship. Sure enough, the ceramic tile on the walls had retained it's colors and shine.

Pepsi

Larry D

Old soda machines are very collectible right now and this one is a classic from the 1970s. In this condition, it can easily be restored. But, given the fact that this photo was taken over 7 years ago, one must wonder if (A) the machine is still there, and (B) what condition it's in today. I'm a firm believer in the rule "take nothing but photos, leave nothing but footprints". But when the time comes for this building's demolition, it would be cool if this beauty could be salvaged.

Violent Ward

@??????, sadly, this hospital was demolished in 2007. Plus, Opacity has a policy never to disclose locations.
