Leaves

Ladyhawke04008

Her Mother now gone, she leaves a child who is now in her 40's.
Tonight she dreams that she is at the foot of this staircase holding a small lit birthday cake. In her other hand is a beautiful bouquet of red roses.
As she climbs this enchanted staircase she quietly sings "Happy Birthday" to the memory of her Mommy.
She turns around and sits down at it's very top, and lays the bouquet down next to her. Holding the small lit cake in both hands, the flames dance as she sings the last "Happy Birthday to you." of the song.
And right at the end, a slight summer's breeze blows through this enchanted stairway, as soft as any Mother's kiss. As it kisses the woman's cheek, it also softly blows out all the candles her Mother's birthday cake.
The woman looks down and sees the blown out candles and also notices that the bouquet of roses are now gone.
She smiles...her wish had been granted...
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!!! " : )

Me too! But, she also wrote under another name, A. N. Roquelaure. She did an erotic trilogy of the story of Sleeping Beauty. "The claiming of Sleeping Beauty." (Warning! This ain't no Disney story!)

Thanks, Jmack! : )
I was just thinking how intimidating this hallway could be to a patient, if they had to walk down it with a staff member, or by themselves. It is so long to begin with. And if it didn't have any windows? That would make it all the more so!

Minktail~ I know what you mean. I graduated in 1980. BLM always played it the last day of school the years that I went. Even now, I'll hear them play it on that day. The last day of school was the best! Definately a high!

This picture also reminds me of my favorite movie, "Fast times at Ridgemont High." I imagine, Jeff Spicoli 's (Penn)character would have been the first kid out of one of those red doors if this was a school. No wait, he wouldn't use a door, he'd use the window in the classroom. Closer to the parking lot. "Hey Bud! ,heh, Let's party!" : )

The Oven and the Cage

Ladyhawke04008

This structure is from a fairytale and nursery rhyme park. It is the gingerbread house from the story Hansel and Gretel. As the story goes, Gretel pushes the witch in the oven and saves her brother. I imagine the feet are suppose to be the witch's to follow the story line.

Search for Light

Ladyhawke04008

This is so beautiful! I love how this door seems to be bathed in a magical kind of light. The falling ivy is like a crooked finger, tempting the passer by to come here for just a sec. I've got something to show you....Like Alice in Wonderland who was tempted by the bottle of potion that was marked, "Drink Me." This door does not need a tag. The viewer can hear it's whispered words, "Open Me."

Just simply beautiful... I feel like I'm beginning to wake up from a deep sleep, and I'm starting to pull away from this peaceful dream. This is the place that my mind takes me to in my world of dreams. When it knows I need to go to this quiet place, so I can find that inner peace, so that I can get through my waking hours in life.

Opulence in Darkness

Tony C. ~ Well, then we all need to win lotteries, so he can get started!!! : )
He could call it the Opacity Asylum and we could all just hang out there. That way we'd all be right there at his beck and call, and bug about when he's going to post new pics. "Are they done yet? Are they, huh?...huh?...huh?" Hmmmm. why does the door to his office have that drawbridge up and moat in front of it? Mannnnn....he thought of EVERYTHING in his design!

Beauty in the Emptiness

Ladyhawke04008

You know Tommeh!!!, that's a really interesting idea you have there. All these structures that Motts has taken pictures of, the designs of the many different rooms, hallways, window placements... I wonder if there WAS a rhyme or reason as to why they were constructed the certain way that they were. It's been studied how colors, like wall paint, can effect a person's mood, so why not explore the way a whole building is designed for its specific purpose?
I'm sure that because of the area this asylum covered, long hallways could not be avoided. But, maybe that is why there are so many windows, and why they are so close to each other. To allow sunlight into what was no doubt a very intimidating hallway for staff and patients to use. Can you imagine, when it was in use, having to walk down these long hallways without windows, and just the lights you see above?

Outbuilding

Ladyhawke04008

Oh Wow! What a beautiful design! Love the little designs on the sides of the structure. Why can't buildings look like this anymore? What a lost art. So glad that you were able to capture it on film, so it will not be forgotten!

Makes me think of a school, and how the halls would look 5 minutes after that last bell rang for that day. And if you were riding the bus home, the radio station ALWAYS played Alice Cooper's, "School's out."
