Yes, the extremities are gone. However, what can be done is replication of millwork profiles which can be taken from what remains. Much of the stone work is probably O.K. There also seems to be a photo archive. All it takes is money. God knows there is no shortage of cash among families of alumni. Maybe somebody will pony up!
Hi Folks & Pat- I ran accross this site inadvertantly because it was mentioned by Artist Andrew Wyeths grand daughter, ( Anna B. McCoy)that she attended drawing and painting classes at Bennett. Today she is in her nineties and sells her work through the Dowling Walsh Gallery in Rockland, Maine. Her work is stunnig and in the Wyeth tradition. If this American treasure is still slated for demolition, lets form a restoration coalition! Historic preservation is my specialty. Any one interested?-Ken
