[I wish there was a rule, that in order to post, you had to write COHERENTLY, and with some minimal grammar & punctuation.. It's extremely frustrating trying to read run-on sentences & ideas that are not linked. Just stating the obvious here, I apologize Motts if it looks like I'm trying to start something; I'm truly not. I think it might actually be a multi-name user again as well.. cough cough]

Hey Motts.. how do you choose your 'nicknames' for some of the un-disclosed places?
[Not trying to get to reveal anything, don't worry. Was just curious because I like some of the nicknames, even more than the actual true location/given names.]

Old Medical Building Courtyard

KatyKate

Actually TONI, it has NOT been "opened & active for over 200 years'"seeing as it was only built in the beginning of the twentieth century and closed before the millenium.

I suggest you check your sources more carefully.
Even Motts has the dates posted in the Letchworth section

Sometimes groups like TAPS and others cannot get the approval for using the sites, or cannot find who really 'owns' the property in order to do filming in the location.

There has been movement to try and transform Letchworth into a senior center but within recent years the funding has fell through and maybe for even more sinister reasons as well. The Palisades group who once owned (or rather tried to buy?) the property may not want it to become public that the place is haunted; and could therefore cause the price to drop, or cause unwanted publicity.

I know I would LOVE to see a formal investigation of beloved Letchworth, but not at the dire price of her becoming directly in the eye of the public or worse more teenagers/hoodlums/arsonists who wish to do harm.

End Of the Wing

KatyKate

In response to you TONI;
I regret to inform you that you have no credibility saying I AM the one destroying the 'experience' for people like you. I did not set fire to any buildings, I do not deface what I consider to be hallowed ground and I sure as hell am not the person you are accusing me to be.

I in fact have worked with preservation groups, protected edifices that deserve a chance to be restored, and have written a documentary piece on abandoned estates/institutions/schools within the Hudson Valley.

If anything at all, I merely agreed to your statement that I believe Letchworth to be a portal to some other world, and that it should be protected and documented. On another note, I also do not need spellcheck in seeing that my ideas are quite a bit more coherent than yours.

Thank you and have a nice day. [and P.S. that WAS sarcasm.]

Geraldo Rivera did a piece called 'Willowbrook; The Last Disgrace' which featured Willowbrook [obviously], although Letchworth was referenced and depicted as well I believe.
There is also a documentary, "Christmas in Purgatory" which may have featured Letchworth along with Willowbrook.

Pitch Shift

KatyKate

Of course it would be wonderful wouldn't it Sara? I agree :]
Unfortunately those who have the final say [contractors, landowners, etc] could not imagine though, to spend double or triple the amount of money to restore and refurbish an exquisite edifice, and Kirkbride, nonetheless. No no, when the price of a wrecking ball and dynamite comes much cheaper and on swift wings. These poor phoenix's of our past thus must suffer the consequences of our ill humanity. Makes me ashamed to be part of it...

(Wow, I was deeply enthralled in my own thoughts there, hah!)

Hydrotherapy Tub

KatyKate

I really hope you weren't the one who flipped that tub over Mike. It's awful to see how disrespectful people are by pictures and what remains of Letchworth but to hear someone admitting it... you shoulnd't even bother to go and disgrace it anymore. Nor should you call the photographer 'stupid' for documenting a place before it was trashed by some low life teenagers

Morgue Doors

KatyKate

I as well went down to the morgue and felt that 'unsettling feeling.' I was just overwhelmed and almost felt panicked, and my head just kept telling me to get out of there. At the same time it was very emotional to think that people had been dissected on lab tables down there. I strongly believe that some leftover energy or souls remain. So much sadness and ill-treatment went on at Letchworth, so I wouldnt't doubt it for a moment
