I can remember the sign was lite with orange and blue bulbs and the ROCKY use to flash. You could get any tacky souviner in here from t-shirts to giant pencils.

I still have my bumper sticker and mug from here.

Yeah this room had both black lights and strobe lights.

Totally screwed with your eyes

Graveyard

Joe

You use to come into this room and you would hear rain sound effects and screams and moans and yelling.

You could see hands coming up like they were rising from the graves and the bodies would pop up with a rush of cool air. Felt good in the summertime

Satanic

I remember in this room there was a guy on a table and people around him and there was a saw that was going in between his legs and you could hear screaming

Creature

All of the cars had paintings of famous horror movies.

I always remembered that the wolfman car was the one my friend threw up in.

The light fixture on the side of the castle was a strobe light so it looked like lightning when you were in the car

Haunted House

Joe

I use to love this ride and before the Corkscrew came to the park, this had the most people lined up for it.

I remember getting into the cart that had black leather seats and most of the time you sat in someone's sweat from the last person who rode it (ewwwwwwwwwwwww) and it was soooo cheesy but it was alot of fun

Grounds

Joe

This is where people would line up to get on the Corkscrew. There was a maze of handrails you would go through in order to get to the coaster.

It was five tickets (which was outrageous back then) but it was well worth it. It was a great rollercoaster and I was told that it was sold to another amusement park and is still in operation today.

Small Carousel

Joe

This was one of the beer gardens that sat off from the Corkscrew.

I never saw anyone in there, except for kids getting high or mother's changing their kids diapers (which most of the time they left behind)

Arrow

Joe

PEB is right, this was the redemption center and there would always be screaming kids wanting to get useless prizes for their tickets.

I believe there was a gift shop on the side of this. I got my Rocky Point bumper sticker from here and I still have it (wow i am a GEEK!)

Carousel

Joe

I dont think that this place is haunted, there are too many people who have happy memories from here. But there were a few people who did get killed on the rides.

There was a ride called the Yo Yo which was basically swings riding at about 30 mph. One night a persons swing broke free from the ride and the person crashed into another ride killing them.

This is where the carousel was. I can remember the summer where I was tall enough to ride this (I am 6'3 now) and getting on the horse (which were all made out of wood) and holding onto the leather bridal and having the mane of the horse blowing around me on that hot summer day.

There was an auction to get rid of the park's inventory but the horses were sold to private bidders

Gondola

Joe

This ride was called the sky liner. You use to climb two sets of stairs and go to the end of a cement block and this 12 year old would take your tickets.

He would secure you in and you would ride over the top of the park. It was really cool to look down on all the people and when you went to the end and the ride would turn around, most teenagers would jump off (kinda stupid because it was a really steep jump)

And when you got back you would have to jump out of the seat, unlock the safety belt and prey you didn't hit the next couple waiting to get on board

Entrance

Joe

It was this set of photos that attracted me to your website.

Rocky Point was a part of every kids summer while growing up in Rhode Island (I still have the layout of the park burned into my memory)

At the front gate, there were two lobsters wearing straw hats and they had signs on them that said "ROCKY WELCOMES YOU TO ROCKY POINT"

There was a guy on eBay who was selling on of the lobsters for $1500. He never sold it.

Kahuna is right, they use to have concerts there in the early 90s to try and save the park, but it didn't help
