Easy Street

Jesse

My dad worked at Mount Sinai when i was a child, before they closed. I would visit him as a little girl for lunch and we would go to the easy street rehabilitation center and he would let me play there in between sessions, and sometimes we could even eat in there. I had forgotten about it for many years-and then one night i dreamed of it --and called him to ask if it was real or something i mis-remembered (because i was so young at the time)
turns out it was legit--and it is so strange to see pics of it like this. i saw some pictures of it (back when the hospital was operational) and i remember it is a very strange way... i remember the car simulator and the little grocery store and i loved to play with the cash register.

Confinement

Looks almost like the front end of a meat mincer. If you want to escape, you are coming out looking like a sausage.

Big Sky

I love how the trees appear to be standing a silent guard over the inhabitants of the cemetery.
It's like the world has forgotten these people, and reduced who they are to a mere number, but the trees have stood by as silent caretakers for these lost souls.

When I worked here in 1992, the presses would need oil on a daily basis, break, and we would often play cards while the pipe fitters and oilers would do their job to get the line back up again. This site brings back memories.

Track

Jesse

When I worked here in 1992, the stamping parts would ride on this track to get to the other buildings to fit on racks or do other work. I remember the miles of track clanking all day with Ford, GM, and Chrysler parts on them.

I used to work at the plant in 1992 in high school. This looks like it was in the 'High Bay' as they called it then. Sad to see the 1.6 million square feet buiilding torn down.

The Stamping Room

Jesse

Believe it or not, I used to work at this factory in 1992. It was called EWI South Bend Stamping (Later Tecumseh Metal Products). I was a press operator. The roof leaked, the press dripped oil on your head but the pay was good and the Union UAW Local 5 took care of you. I google'd the stamping plant to see if it was still there.
