I think the producers of "Life Without People" would be interested in this place.

Funky

Jason

The ceiling looks like the bottom of a UFO. Wonder what that light looked like.

Switchboard

Jason

I was just about to ask in the last frame how you lasted down here with no breathing protection. Especially when you said the flashlight lit up the spores floating around. Risky at best.

Diorama

Jason

Wow that's cool. I'd have been hard pressed not to just go ahead and open that bottle of fizz. Wonder what's in that box to the left, more booze?

Rotary

Jason

I'm just over 40, been building computers for 20 of them, and even I didn't know what a Telex was until hitting the WiKi. Long story short on this thing: the world's first texting phone. Very interesting.

"Get in, Get out" - that's probably what the feller waiting for you to bend over for the soap has on *his* mind....

Calendar

Jason

There was a 1990s US Justice Department study of 15 states that showed 67% of former inmates released from state prison had returned at least once in the following three years. I haven't seen a study about federal inmate statistics. But that number jives with a California study that showed 70% of its state inmates returning in the first three years.

I'd like to know the return rates between first timers, second timers, third timers, and so-on. Many hardened long-term criminals actually feel more secure in jail and do a crime after release to return to what they've known longer: being securely confined than being free with life's risks and trying to cope with the outside world. Sad when you think about it.

Peering Out

I am amazed that the castle has managed to stay in "pretty good" shape for what it has been through...

Light

Jason

I envision a Victorian lady sitting here reading a book while watching her children play in the garden...

Fireplace

Jason

The fireplace looks dramatically smaller just because the mantel was removed (most likely by salvage thieves). The huge stone support beam in the firebox would have been covered by a heavily carved mantel. I agree with the above comments that most likely a giant mirror was used on the over mantel to reflect large amount of light into this beautiful room. I can see how beautiful it was in my head!

A Broken Fairy Tale

Jason

It's broken but it can also be restored. Ive done work like this and that railing could be restored. It is amazing the type of restoration products are out there today...

Night Panorama

Jason

If the city does decide to take this building down I hope at least they try to salvage of all the beautiful architectural details it has. I just think its crazy that no one could find a new use for such an amazing building of this quality.

Stone

Jason

Absolutely beautiful..this type of stonework is never seen anymore. As a Historic Preservationist it makes me physically upset that these buildings are left to fall apart...

Adult Building

jason

been there many times. I have had quite a few personal experiences there with cold spots in the main hospital building. As well as sensations of being watched or followed through some of the tunnels. It was a great place to go explore until the security became to tight. Best way to enter [information removed as per site policy].

Dark Asylum

Jason

I drove around it a few months back for the first time, and it was the scariest thing that i have ever seen. I totally felt like I was being watched by someone in the towers. I kept looking through the windows expecting to see a ghost or something. Such a scary place.

Eery that every door is opened to the same exact angle. Did you do that?

Shelter

Jason

Oddly most of the fallout signs I've seen in intact buildings have corroded or worn out to some extent. This looks like nothing has touched it.
