this reminds me of a funny ass story my english teacher told us... when he was a HS senior he was on an awning thing vandalizing some chick's window because she turned down his prom date offer and her mom pulled in the driveway but his friend had ran away with the ladder so he had no choice but to jump so he did and took a mary statue right to the tailbone it was so great he didn't break the statue but it broke the hell out of his bone, he was really really fat then too so its actually really funny to think about.

I just realized how stupid that sounded... I was 6 years old when KPPC closed XD
even so, I wish I could have a loom like that. of course not that exact old decreipt crap-covered one, but one like it. even so, it may sound cheap, but I doubt I'm the only one who wishes they could've have some of this expensive/interesting stuff before it rotted... its a shame. it may tell us something now about the people who once dwelled in certain places, but the developers planning to tear down various places could usually care less about the "junk" that lies inside. I know KPPC isn't coming down anytime soon, but I was speaking of places in general... ah, you get what I mean, lol.

rtotten, (if you're still around, lol) I've heard that this mural was painted by a patient a long time ago. judging by the looks of it (the old style camera, the colored tiles which seem to no longer be there, the decript looking paint, etc.), I could say that the "long time ago" claim is a safe assumption.

ugh why must something like this go to waste? I really could've used that. see I craft all sorts of Native American things, and this loom would've been perfect for ponchos and handbags and the like. nowadays I have no idea where I could find such a loom, as well as the cost of it! if I had just one thing I could've retrieved before this place was abandoned (I mean they really should've put some of this stuff up for grabs if they were just gonna leave it to rot), I think I would've taken one of these looms.

it's good to know that they're restoring the stuff from this place. if only other relics from other places could have had the same fate...

you wanna know what really boggles my mind about places like this? think about this for a moment: Kings Park closed its doors in '96. think of the historical events that this building has not witnessed: the deaths of celebrities and presidents, the columbine shootings, 9/11, the columbia crash, the war... it's mind boggling. its almost as if this building as well as other buildings have a sort of innosense of what has happened since they've closed... like they've frozen in time. I don't know, that's just sort've what I thought, since I live on Long Island. it's amazing to think that I was only 6 when this place closed...

where I was sent away, they had one of these. we played a very unique style of bingo, where each square had a personal question on it that we had to answer when we got that square filled. seems kinda theraputic, but some of those questions were very difficult to answer, especially when you answer it and have sneers and giggling from all around the table from the less kind patients.

the more I see pics like this one, the more I realize I'll never have the courage to actually do any exploring whatsoever. :X
