They do preheat the inside of the cars with a gas torch before filling, not only to help keep the tep of the steel where it needs to be, but to avoid damaging the car. These cars are lined with fire brick, similar to whats inside a furnace, or a locomotive firebox. The bricks prevent the molten metal from burning through the sides of the car, but if they just dumped 2900 degree molten steel in the car the bricks would shatter from the thermal shock. And satiria, yes, that is a spray painted number three. These cars don't require all of the regular data on other railroad cars, since they don't ever leave the steel mill property and never enter interchange service.
I am a model railroader and I am building a model of a steel mill, and as a result, I have done all sorts of research into steel mill rail operations and its related equipment.

This Place reminds me of a resort in Canada called Fern, only Fern is still open even with very gross pastel colours on the walls! I Think it opened in 1890, or thats what the people who work there and own it say! Its acually really nice inside, A lot better then The Pines and any Holliday Inn. It has like 3 Out door pools and an Indoor pool, has really good food and in the winter in has DOGSLEDING!!!!! : ) PS: It's near the town of Orillia

those hall ways are well spooky at night especaly with the cracking of tiles under foot and your torch is going dim and your no were near the end of the hall way yet !

sadly some moorons have had a fire in the middle of the hall now and burnt a big hole in it and the stage also ahs got a huge hole in the midle. but a great room to find though!

they have all those signs at the old military base near me (Caution--Blast Area) but my stepdad was stationed there, as was a neighbor, and they said about the only thing you'd find laying around was small caliber...rifle rounds, etc.

this is late, but i agree with the whole "animals know when they're about to die" when my dog of about 14 died of heart failure, he went to his favorite spot under the porch and laid down.
