I don't know why but it looks like a little old lady's room with the bad carpet and wallpaper. Kinda makes me sad.

I love the one open door in the background. You find yourself waiting for someone or something to step through it.

It's incredible...there is nothing that gives away the fact that this shot was taken in 2006. It really looks like it could have been taken years and years ago. It's beautiful.

Stephen King was actually staying in the Stanley Hotel when he got the idea for the Shining. The Stanley is in Estes Park, CO. I'm actually going there in a couple months for a retreat with TAPS from Ghosthunters.

I want that to be my room...it's absolutely gorgeous...put a nice little window seat in and it would be perfect!

That X reminds me of Fern Gulley when Zack was spray painting X's on the trees that were going to be destroyed...creepy corollation, huh?

It looks like that scene from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory...fizzy lifting drink anyone?

Wow..when I first saw the walls in this pic I thought of autumn with the red and orange leaves falling off the bare trees. I think that's probably why I find this picture so calming. I can almost smell that October smell.

First thing...anybody else reminded of Bunnicula, who would suck all the stuff out of carrots and lettuce?

Second...I completely agree with the "imaginary friend being ok for adults" theory. I don't know if it's just because I like to talk a lot and don't always have a willing listener, or if it's just that the ones you make up always say what you want them to say so YOU can say what you wanna say, but i have hosts of imaginary people I talk to constantly. However it's only when I'm alone and I'm confident in the fact that they are not real. =)

If that makes me crazy, then hell I'll embrace the insanity!

What's interesting is that the shadow of the railing attached to the caged-off part is distorted. The railing must bend further up but you can't see it in the picture. Very cool.

Ok I've never seen Session 9 (although I now plan to) but just walking through this corridor and having all those arms reaching out would freak the hell outta me. And I like going into creepy or abandoned places! It's just looks kinda surreal and alien-like.

I think this may be my favorite picture on the site. I haven't seen them all yet, but I don't think there is a picture out there that could match the poignant beauty of this. You can't really put it into words.

Don't worry, you're not the only one who generalizes around here. I must admit that before I found this site and started reading these extremely thought-provoking comments, I probably would have been more likely to believe all the rumors about mental health institutions, considering they're mostly what you hear about. You rarely hear about any of the good things that happen. Although I now believe that the good outweighs the bad a million times over, and it's thanks to people like you Lynne, and everyone else out there that contributes their time, patience, smiles and tears to people who really need them.

Oh and by the way I've never seen anything in the way of ghosts either! Maybe we're just deaf and blind to anything that's out there. =) I just know that until I get some proof one way or the other, I'm definitely willing to believe in the possibility of paranormal activity.

Ok I just found this site a week ago and I need to comment on something that was posted late last year.

I'm gonna assume the *Lynne* roll here =)

Ghosthunters are actually quite professional in what they do. Yes they believe in paranormal occurances, however when they investigate a site, they do it with the intention of "debunking" so-called hauntings instead of blindly validating them. They are their own toughest critics and in no way are they "asshat" nor do they pee on anything they're not supposed to. Just because they believe in something that has yet to be proven, does not mean they are charlatans or fools.

Sorry for the rant but everyone else here is so passionate about respecting the staff and patients and not assuming that these places are lairs of torture, so now I can speak up for something that I'm passionate about.

No disrespect intended and I think everyone here is just wonderful...especially Lynne with her pillows! =)

Wow I'm looking at this calendar and thinking on June 28, 1979 it was my husband's 4th birthday...I wasn't even born yet. That's just amazing and also a tad unsettling! =)
