Great Barr Hall

It's a pity Security couldn't do their job properly and keep the vandals out.
I used to have to go into the Hall when it was in use, when it was full of life, not suffering the death it has done.
I have not got the words to describe how I feel when I see Great Barr Hall (Scott Hall) in the state that it is.
Lady Bateman Scott must be turning in her grave.
How anyone can treat such a beautiful building the way they have is beyond me.
I'm just glad that I have got the memories of how this once great building, used to be.

This was a weighing machine for the patients.
We had one on Veasey Home and kept it in the store room as in this photograph.
The patients clothes were kept on the wooden shelves.
This could be Veasey Home,
I wish I knew.
How I miss St Margarets.

Chapel

Alongside the chapel wall are a number of animal graves. There is at least one horse buried there. I used to walk past the chapel on my way home after my shift and the animal graves were clearly visible in the 70's.

The Main Hall, was used as offices, i.e the Wages Clerk etc. etc. when I worked at St Margaret's in the 70's. There was a small building attached to the left hand side of the Hall that was used as the Mortuary.

The only home I can think of that had a piano was Wills Home and one of the patients of the home was taught, as a child, by his Grandmother to play the piano. When he was in a good mood and if you asked him nicely he would play a few tunes for the patients and staff. They were happy days.
