You know, Motts, I know this is an old gallary,.. but I was SO extremely interested into this hospital/ruins phase.. my grandma worked at the psych hospital in utica, ny.. the old main one that i ventured into so many times.. i remember hanging out and going on outtings with her patients.. shes no longer alive and a lot of her old residents/patients arent either.. now IM a nurse, and I've been ill enough to require psychiatric hospitalization .. and I've worked with some of HER old patients.. and It's just so numbing and eye opening to think I was so 100% skewed in my beliefs one way and now I totally think so much in the other direction and part of it was spawned by your photographs.
I think you're cool enough to understand what I mean but it's really surprising what most of your viewers have to say!! God damn. P.S. I push every single drugs ever listed on this site plus some. It isn't barbaric or inhuman... you try getting attacked by someone psychotic or mentally imbalanced. better to give an IM injection than to have the potential well being of staff and other residents at risk.

I was gonna say this before, but I didn't. Who the HELL would buy a house/property near a functional PRISON? I don't care if its minimum security or not.. Listen, if it was just the abandoned structure I could see that.. but it isnt. They must have plans to demo both? or the property/housing market is incredibly cheap?

I'm a nurse and I assure you that is def. not real. Hah, on another note, I used to work with the developmentally disabled, 'profoundly mentally retarded' adults... and it makes me think of them shitting and pissing everywhere. Ugh, I'd be walking around this place thinking about how poop was probably smeared all over, etc. Maybe I'm just fucked up though. But seriously.. ugh, shit smearing..

The funny thing is for some really psychotic patients those drugs don't do shit. & ECT/EST can be really beneficial in some cases, also lobotomies are still performed in some parts of the world, I think England being one of them.. but obviously in a more humane way.

My first couch was Ethan Allen and it had the same frame, but orange cushions on the backs and seat area, obviously. It was pretty rad. My boyfriend at the times parents wedding present.

I can't wait for your photos. I only made it to this place once, and when I hear about it I think about teenagers being stupid and careless, but your photos have brought it class and remind me why I am a fan of my memories of it.

I see a date of 5-5-72. That's sort of suspicious.. I have well kept books from the 70's that are in a lot worse/yellow condition than these open notebook pages. Perhaps the building was shut tight and I shouldn't be so skeptical.
