Main Hall

Dave

I shon my dads 1,000,000 candle watt torch on this glitter ball and it reflected all the colours all over the room, that was quite strange, a disco without music! it would be pretty creepy to see the old layout with the state its in now, but old buildings like this are pretty fascinating.
Also all 12 of us heard strange sounds that night, its definately haunted and in the block with all the broken sinks alot of orbs have shown up on the video we took.

I think people should be taken on tours of this place, as they're going to enter it anyway, and its better to keep control over them rather than stumbling around a place with pure holes in the floors, and loose ceilings.

Theater

Dave

I remember being in the theater as a student in psychology. We observed patient interviews by the psychiatrists and noted the patients' behavior and responses. Seems so long ago now.

Wandered Far from the Office

haha i live near Waverly, and lemme tell you that place is definately lively. No matter where you go, if you stare into the darkness, you can see shadows of people walking through the corridors. The only bad thing is, Motts, you cant just enter the place cuz they have motion detectors and cameras and guards but you could schedule an overnight stay, and take some good pix that way.

i've lived in connecticut my whole life, yet for some reason i had never been to this area of the state until 2000. i was going to a norwich navigators game and had time to kill, so i took a trip on rte 12. all of a sudden this place just descended on me and freak me out to the max.
like most of the folks on the site i have been into abandoned buildings since i was a kid in the 60's. but this place just did my head in. the really weird thing is the northeastern part on connecticut is crawling with weird abanonded place (also some weird not abandoned places such as the wacky packy liquor store in moosup.)
i would suggest to get off I-95 in groton and drive route 12 all the way up to the mass. line in thompson. it is a complete acid trip (and i haven't touched the stuff since 1978!!)
the town of balouville is amazing, and wait till you see the abandoned mill in north grosvenordale (if it's still there?)
anyway, sorry for rambling here but i think you all can get my drift. abandoned buildings rule!!!!

I went inside the main building by using Crooked Hill Rd. lots of stuff.... i heard a scream.... not sure what it was... it was in the shower area i think.

Farewell

Dave

As I said in a comment on one of the earlier pics, I used to live here in the '80s. When we were moving out in 1990, my parents told me it was because the NWCDC was no longer renting the houses out. They only let us stay until we coud find housing elsewhere. The family that lived in the biggest house were the last to move out. Their house was the one that was burned down in 2000.

Dave

If I remember correctly, that's the bathtub from #65. I took many a bath in that tub when we lived there during the '80s.
