Looking Back

Courtney

I think this one causes me the most sadness. It looks as if everyone left quite quickly, and like someone still stands on the stage after all of his audience has left. it looks like no one cares.

I worked at Met State 1989-1991
I believe what you say about the place. Your idea about writing a book is brilliant.

Portico

Courtney

I worked at this place from 1989-1991. I was a Rec. Therapist and worked evenings and weekends. We played Badminton and Frisbee in this Courtyard all the time. The whole place gave everyone the creeps. I did not know about the documented murder or the graveyard! There were plenty of rumors about other stories though. You've outdone yourself capturing its creepiness.

Its really neat just to imagine what went on decades ago.....picturing the people doing what they did every day.

Facade

This kind of reminds me of the movie "Rose Red." But, it is a beautiful building with lots of personality!

Impression Trays

No, he is right. I'm a Dental Assistant. We still use these for making impressions of people's teeth for various reasons. (ie. dentures, braces, mouth pieces, bleach trays, crowns, etc)

Vine Door

Courtney

I had to look real close and ask my husband to look at this...

With the untrained eye it looks like a painting that is ripped. But my husband pointed out to me that it's actually a screen door that's just ripped up and the dark is the screen and the light is where there is no screen due to the rips.

Beautiful shot! If I had this photo in a frame I would deffinatly hang it on my wall.

Corner

It looks like most of these places had really beautiful entrance halls. It's almost like they wanted to decieve the parents and family members who dropped off thier children, etc. They wanted the family to think that they were dropping them off at a beautiful and respectable place.

Watching the Outside

Courtney

I agree with Ilaynay.

I know that when I am stressed or depressed or practicly haveing a nervous breakdown, sitting next to a window and just looking up at the sky calms me down a bit.

Self Portrait

Courtney

LoL I keep expecting not to see anyone in these shots, so the odd time that you are in your own pictures I am not expecting it and I practicly jump out of my seat at first glance.

Attic Steps

Courtney

My in-laws have a very old house that this picture reminds me a little of. That house has so much history! When my in-laws and my husband moved into that house they found old slides that were labeled and dated from the early 1900s. They also found old newspapers that were used as wallpaper when they went to replace the walls. Even more recently than that a cult lived in this house. The place has alot of interesting history, some of which we don't know about yet, I'm sure.

Are those ceiling fans?

Vast

Weird, looks like an old ballroom to me. I have to agree with Java, the "air vent" looks like where a chandelier was once hung.

Stains

Courtney

Yeah, I've noticed that alot of the asylums have pink rooms. That color would drive ME insane. But then again it adds to the creepy feeling you get from these old places that are believed to be haunted.

Crib

Courtney

Wow, kind of creepy if you ask me. My parents had a bed like that for me when I was little. When I was old enough not to fall out of my bed, both sides of it were let down permanently to make a normal looking bed. Only difference was, it didn't seem so...creepy.
