Yellow Chair

What makes one think those chairs are worth money? Just curious. Don't look like Eames to me ;)

Peel

Probably had to re-tile once they added additional plumbing, hence the tiles behind the wall. You definitely get a sense of the time period that a structure was abandoned from a photo like this one.

This perspective is too cool!

Vast

Cortney

I like the idea of the soothing pastel colors of surgical rooms back in the day, as opposed to the antiseptic white used today.

Alcove

These alcoves are exactly the details I am usually looking for, and excited to find! Very cool!

Plaster Sinks

Well said again DME....some of my friends apartments still have old sinks with separates for hot & cold. Nothing unusual there! :)

It's been 2 years, and I'm wondering if you can tell me which gallery has the 19th century crematorium (provided it's been added since then)?? I have an affinity for structures from the 1800's.

If this were my site, I would deliberately delete all of the stupid, nonsensical comments...this is an exploration into history and though entertaining on some levels, not a laughing matter overall :)

Very cool to hear from people that have firsthand experience working here, or with people that lived here. You must have some fascinating stories to tell!

Is this natural light seeping through cracks? It's so symmetrical it's hard to believe. I really like this photo.

Winch House

Cortney

It's actually very common to see older buildings with a large side and only 1 to 3 windows. Always struck me as odd, but I imagine it had something to do with either aesthetics, temperature, light and/or whether there was another building attached to it at one time.

It's neat that the light fixture is still suspended from the ceiling amidst all that chaos.
