As you look at the picture of the building. On the left side of the shot. The top floor. A patient (before I started working there) a patient jumped from the 6th floor solarium window , and hit the ground beside the building. About a 75 foot drop at least. I know this, because I was related to two of the employees on duty, and involved with the situation.

I have asked my source to do more digging and find the truth of the matter. The rumor I'd heard prior is that a new "state of the art" hospital was going to be built on the grounds of Westborough State Hospital. The source say no it's Worcester. I'm checking.

I've heard from a very unofficial source, that this building is going to be saved, when others are demolished.

Trust me the stae didn't make a whole lot of money on the deal. What the state did do was dodge the massive asbestos abatement bill

She has 700,000. Hope your family isn't spending too much, if it's Massachusetts the state is going to want a hefty part of her assets to fund her care. Any way your GA has the right to get a second opinion about her mental staus evaluation. Contact the AG by all means. Or find a lawyer that specializes in Elder Affairs practice and cosult with them.

You'd have to find out some legal things first. Does her family have a durable Power of Attorney over your GA. In that case they can put her in. To keep her in they'd have to have her found incompetent. If a relative did the exam and benefited from it sounds limke a major conflict of interest to me. Maybe actionable, especially since he's derived benefit from it.. The "home" sounds pretty draconian to me, The legal stuff is public record and shouldn't be had to find out about. Having POA means that they have to act in your GA's behalf and her best interests all the time. They are permitted to be reimbursed for expenses. You may have tpo file suit to have things changed it' would be problematic because she his only an aunt

Quite a few over the years. I'm sure a few of the 700 people buried there were suicides. I know of at least 5.

Rooms

Big ED

The metal doors were on the more active wards. They used to be seclusion rooms. It came down to there were 2 seclusion rooms, on each floor. The rest became rooms for the patients, who could be trusted with the modicum of privacy the rooms afforded.

My unit was the last unit to move from the Kirkbride to the Bonner Building. What sped up our departure, was a fire hose stand pipe on the second floor of the B building ,burst and the water was cascading down the annex stairs. it was spilling onto the B ward floor. There was a fire exit door at the bottom of the starirs so I kinda hugged the wall and shuffled alonf a out cropping of the wall the bannister was bolted to got out a few feet, hung on for life and kicked at the door handle until the door opened and the water was shunted out doors into the area between b and C building

I finally can place this view. Most likely on or near the roof of the Rehab center. That was a part of the hospital that had been very recently renovated (Multi million dollars spent) Also it was the last department I worked in at Danvers . I started 2 months before it closed' Also where I officially met my lovely wife . She was the department computer geek.

Not to put too fine a point to this exercise in morality. It's private property., you may not have broken but you entered without permission, depending on the time of day, daytime, night time, misdemeanor, felony. If you "steal" something , (collect a souvenier) it becomes a felony. Y'see you committed a crime while committing a crime. I realize that's the extreme end of the charges spectrum, but depending on how tired the cops are, of people breaking in, and having to chase them. It could happen. Many police forces are less tolerant of UE'ers these days, and will overcharge. Figure on a heavy fine and court costs ,to go along with a donation to the victim witness fund ,plus community service. Unless of course you've been caught before and they're tired of your butt.

Pardon the irreverance here. I look at that photo, and the set up sketch for the Monty Python Lumberjack Song. pops into mind. Remember the blood stained barber bit.
