Nice ! Black and white really brings out the differing color in the bricks and really accentuates their texture.

Sink in the Tub

Barbara

My great aunt's house had a claw foot tub and I remember always being creeped out by it when I was little. Now if I had the money and the right type of house, I'd love to have one!

Welcome Home

Barbara

I found this site trying to locate my transcripts from 1974. That was my class in the photo of the student library. These photos brought back amazing memories. It was scary then, definitely worse now.

I'd put it on my front door and cordially ask the Jehovah's Witnesses if they'd like to come in...

I went to Bennett in 1975-76. I was told that was the last year the school was open. I have stumbled upon pictures of the building several times posted on the web. I feel so sad about what has happened to this amazing building. I'm also interested in getting any transcripts from that school. Anyone know where all the records might have gone????

Channels

Barbara

Very nice set; I must say I'm glad I was finished with my lunch before I began to look at them.

I bet there's a bunch of great stuff to explore in Germany; from what I've seen Japan has a bunch of absolutely awesome ruins as well.

Apron

Barbara

I wonder if previous explorers hung the apron up like that or if that was done by the last people too leave. Considering that I don't tend to frequent morgues, for all I know it might be common procedure to hang the aprons over the table. And I probably don't want to know what the nasty stains on the apron are, though I assume it is dirt.

It's hauntingly eerie to see holiday decorations left behind, just lost in time. Especially as it is so relevant to the current season.

What I find disturbing is that there is a sheep with my name on it that has fallen into the pit! xD

Red And Blue

Barbara

ummm...were' not gaping at the concept of the asylum, nor of the people that resided and worked there. It's about the building and its architecture. It's about the beauty in the decay. There are also pictures of abandoned factories and such here too, its not jsut asylums.

In addition, we look at these things with utmost respect. Many of the regulars here work in the health care field themselves. Some even worked in the places pictured.

These pictures are taken to preserve beautiful architecture that is no longer inherent in many structures built today. They are taken to display the beauty that can be present in decay. They are taken to remember the forgotten. It's not a farce.

Ohh can we say desktop? I'd love this for one :o)

Beautiful set! The building is absolutely gorgeous and you captured it perfectly in its final days.

Powerhouse

Barbara

Is it just me, or is anyone else surprised that they remove the boilers? Mayme my cognisance of what the huge Titanic boilers looked like skew my train of reason...but I would imagine that would be quite a hefty, not to mention expensive, task to remove the boilers.
