I think they are higher up because these were for patients that couldn't bathe themselves, and an attendent would have to help. Being higher up would make it easier for the attendent so they wouldn't have to bend over so far. How they got them up there, though...hoverlift?

And what I mean by "I'd never thought I'd say this" is not that I'd never agree with you Anthony, but that I never thought I would say I actually felt that some odd things definitely went on at one of these buildings...

It would be an interesting place to go...but after reading that article (thanks again Pb!) I have second thoughts. Never thought I'd say this, but I think Anthony has a point about the animals being tortured and stuff there...after reading that article, I really do find it hard to believe that there isn't at least some type of residual energy left there.

LOL Lynne, of course I do ; ) The reason that the comment came to mind is because (and I rarely share this) I suffer from anxiety, which I have pretty much controlled by medication, but when I'm in its darkest throes, I myself have actually clutched my bedposts in fear (this being in my room, surrounded by the same things I have known for a significant number of years now. I guess what scares me is, back in the day, I have a feeling I certainly could have been in one of these places. It's just scary because even having your own mother with you can't always make things feel better. That's what I was thinking of, certainly not because they were being mistreated. *falls off backward off of soapbox* *whoops* :0)

I can understand that they could have clenched the bedposts in fear...not because they were mistreated or anything, but afflictions of the mental kind can be quite scary even if you are in cheery rainbow land. I know that I would be scared no matter what because I would be away from my family and may not understand what is going on, even if I were being treated like a Queen. Don't worry dear Lynne, that's probably what they meant ; )

Wow, thanks for the nice gallery. And it makes me ill that corporations want to tear down such beautiful structures. Clearly at least part of this building (the administration) could be re-used, rather than torn down. It would make a lovely bank! Of course, I like the state its in now, but I'd rather it be reused than torn down. I'm just absolutely sick over Danvers and Dixmont. These people make me want to puke.
