AutumnTwin

Chalk up another WONDERFUL gallery!!

This place looks like it could be from a horror film, or some fancy private school in movies like "Dead Poet's Society"

Oh captain, my captain!

Location: Barnes Hospital  Gallery: Almost Too Late

Rest

AutumnTwin

Just in time for Halloween to display the crypt photos....another fabulous gallery, Motts!

Location: Crypt of Barons  Gallery: Laid to Rest

Creak

AutumnTwin

OOOO! Just in time for Halloween, too! SQUEE! New pix!

Deep Red Stains

AutumnTwin

"Follow the red tile floor!" LOL!

I think those are skylights that are illuminating the hallway...you can see a light fixture between the two far ones.

Poisons For Internal Use

AutumnTwin

Cait,
They could've been adhesive letters and someone simply peeled off the NOT from that locked cabinet door.

But I concur, there probably was a NOT on there at some point.

Narrow Room

AutumnTwin

Boy, if you didn't have issues with claustrophobia before staying in a room like that, you sure would after a few days.

Violets

AutumnTwin

Motts, this was wonderful...so sad to see that ancient architecture rotting away...glad you got to see it before all of it had crumbled into nothing, although I'm sure we'd ALL want to join you in the Wayback Machine to see its former glory.

Location: Great Barr Colony (St Margaret's Hospital)  Gallery: St Margaret's Hospital

Seated

AutumnTwin

Looks like a scale to me....minus the circus barker and stuffed animals for guessing it correctly!

Location: Great Barr Colony (St Margaret's Hospital)  Gallery: St Margaret's Hospital

Barren

AutumnTwin

Stupid pyros...sad that they had to torch the places and destroy such lovely architecture.

Twist

AutumnTwin

Lynne,

I used my cell phone's crappy camera to take that shot. Upon looking closer at it, I couldn't see much further detail....it had the stainless steel "frame" and what appeared to be a glass front. I wasn't sure if it was for emergency purporses or some other odd use.

Location: Hellingly Hospital  Gallery: Sporadic Storms

Complex

AutumnTwin

Man, what a MAZE that looks to be! Sort of a Kirkbride in chaos.

Wow, amazing shot that really illustrates the vastness of it all.

Tank Number 3

AutumnTwin

Just how many gallons did that puppy hold, anyways?

Location: Severalls Hospital  Gallery: The Beginning of the End

Outbuilding

AutumnTwin

What lovely architecture.

They just don't build 'em like they used to...now they're all boxy looking industrial things....devoid of any charm whatsoever.

Location: Severalls Hospital  Gallery: The Beginning of the End

Demolition

AutumnTwin

Sad that the hall is now gone....from the scorched marks around the windows, it looked like maybe demo had to take place to prevent an unforunate collapse that may have injured someone. Still sad.

Pink

AutumnTwin

It's Baker-Miller Pink!!! (a.k.a. Drunk Tank Pink)...I know I've seen a link somewhere around here for the article regarding this particular shade of pink.

Florid Doors

AutumnTwin

Is it customary for institutions that are closed down to leave all the doors to the rooms open (like maybe for security purposes)?

Yes, it would be tempting to close the doors if you knew you could get away with it....but I'd hate to get stuck in one of them accidentally and not have a key to unlock the door!

Location: Severalls Hospital  Gallery: The Beginning of the End

The Inside

AutumnTwin

That shutter on the window and the frame it fits into when the window is more open is just C-R-E-E-P-Y!

That little vent to the left of it is even stranger!

Location: Severalls Hospital  Gallery: The Beginning of the End

Violet Light

AutumnTwin

Hey, Motts, just what IS that stuff on the floor in the foreground?

Kadee, it looks like transoms above the doors....small ones used for air circulation

Search for Light

AutumnTwin

VERY lovely, Motts! Wallpaper shot?

Location: Severalls Hospital  Gallery: The Beginning of the End

Subliminal Shadows

AutumnTwin

I love how the paint has been peeled (either by age or by fire) away to reveal the orange and ugly stripe pattern underneath the more bland gray/white.

Lynne - when you read this, can you look at the first image of Hellingly and see if you have an idea of what my image (link in comment) is?? THANKS, HON!

Twist

AutumnTwin

thanks for letting me post this, Motts)

Can someone tell me what the large panel is used for? not the electrical and telephone outlets)....

http://i55.photobucket...win/MysteryPanel.jpg

This has what look like 4 sections to the black-faced panel, but I've never seen one in use, so I wondered what it's used for?? THANKS EVERYONE!!

Watchful Eyes

AutumnTwin

Makes you wonder if some poor patient who was experiencing delusional issues might have thought those WERE eyes staring at him/her all day long.

Location: Hellingly Hospital  Gallery: Sporadic Storms

Weeping

AutumnTwin

Motts, these places must be even more creepified when there are vicious storms raging outside (even when they were operational)....did you ride out the storm here?

Location: Hellingly Hospital  Gallery: Sporadic Storms

Relax

AutumnTwin

That's a pretty rudimentary wing chair...it does look alien-like.

Location: Hellingly Hospital  Gallery: Sporadic Storms

Blackened Windows

AutumnTwin

They look like they're a bit high up when they WERE used as observation windows, too.
