The soap dispenser on the ceiling is the reason why the floor is so clean in here....LOL!!

I play the organ.....definitely sad to see a historic pipe organ abandoned like this. But if you had a couple rolls of duct tape and another person with you, you just might get some sound out!!! It looks like the center tower holding some '8 pipes collapsed and the pipes scattered themselves around the gallery

Motts, did you happen to check out Whalom Park in Lunenburg MA? That park closed in 2001, and basically sat untouched for the next five years or so, before they finally demoed it 2006-2007. If you did, I will be looking forward to seeing the pics because that will be one hell of a gallery: a mostly intact abandoned amusement park!!

yes I used to love this ride......it wasn't scary at all!! Especially when the car would whip around a corner and crash through a set of doors. The Whalom Park Fun House was even cooler.

Lynne, are you from Rhode Island or the surrounding area? Sounds like you are pretty familiar with this park. (The Lynne who always steps up to the plate when people start speculating a little too much about "mental illness treatments" of years gone by; and also helps us keep the soap dispenser thread alive!

Looks like a Hammond C3 organ to me.....I wonder if there was a Leslie speaker kicking around near it?

nope not a B3, or any Hammond for that matter....I'd have to cast my lot with the guy who said it was a Conn organ, although I initially thought it was a Thomas organ (looks like Thomas-colored tilting tablets. In excellent condition...looks like all it needs is to cleaned up and a few broken keys repaired. It more than likely still works....these things are usually bulletproof.

ya know what, come to think of it, the campground i used to go to had this very soap dispenser in one of the bathrooms, and it worked!!! Especially after nine p.m........

sorry guys, but this is a just a decorative canopy for the reed organ on the following page. The people who built these organs also put these elaborate canopy tops on them, and fake organ pipes were extremely popular

this looks to me like an antique 'pump organ' which used reeds to produce the tones. There are two pedals (not visible in the pic) that the player must pump with their feet to operate the suction belows. Most musicians around the turn of the century who could not afford pianos bought these organs. The sound is like an accordion on steroids. Yes the organ IS made of real wood, and they were built by hand...too last. I have one like this in my living room that was made in 1898!!! and it's never been restored; only 'patched up' If Motts had drawn a stop or two, pumped the pedals and pressed a few keys, there is a good chance some sound might have come out.
BTW: these organs are NOT HEAVY at all. The 'fake pipe top' from the previous pic detachs, and organ itself can easily carried by two people, or one with a hand truck. Not that I advocate stealing, but obviously whoever owns this place could care less about what's in it (this goes for ALL the locations on this site) or it would have been removed and stored properly, not left to molder away in a vacant building. So I say, if you want it, go for it because if you don't, the wrecking ball will get it instead. And, for people who just leave stuff laying around like this in these places; they're asking to get ripped off.

if the water is that crappy, there is a handy-dandy soap dispenser in the bathroom....but then you'd also lose the lighting under the sink if you took it out.

if you look all the way to the left, you can see the soap dispenser....just enough for a quick handwash!!

how 'bout the nasty squirting sound you get when the round thing isn't 'pink' anymore...if the dam thing even works when you push up? Hee hee my first soap dispenser post!!
